Jennifer Rae Trojan will take the audience on a journey of both forms of canine service, their differences, their similarities, their public access under the Americans With Disabilities Act, certification/ testing as well as the differences in training that is required of both types of service.
Pam Osbourne will share personal experiences with regard to the role of the therapy dog in the work force, variety of jobs as well as training for specific tasks.
The Presentations/Authors:
Both Pam and Jennifer have written books describing their experiences in very different formats. Pam provides first-hand experiences, the differences in training with animal assisted therapy as well as a step by step guide to various levels of activities in terms of working with animal assisted therapy for Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias. Hers is a very personal account of her experiences in that specific venue.
Jennifer has, as her main characters the dogs as the story tellers, who take the reader on a journey of what is involved in their training as well as their experiences from their point of view. It’s a fictional diary of what a dog sees and feels as his role in terms of assistance to others.
